my mom kept everything

stud fee receipt

Our dog Frankie (a pure bred miniature poodle whose full name was Franceska of Sagittarius) had four beautiful pure bred puppies. I was seven, and I remember watching them be born. I found the stud fee receipt in the box with my mom’s silver. I guess there’s no reason it can’t stay there a while.

Damn. I should have thought to scan Martha’s homemade private investigator’s license.

What does “return in season guaranteed” mean?

“return in season guaranteed” mean the stud, let’s call him Jerry, is guaranteed to get the bitch, Frankie, pregnant by the end of the breeding season, whatever that is. Presumably if Jerry can’t cut muster, we get our hundred dollars back. But he didn’t. Or he did. Meaning we got four puppies, as I think I said above.
